Same here. But if clicking twice, it does work. I like the new icon, though.

Seems a bit buggy in a few places, haven't nailed them all down yet.

It needs double click to prevent accidental clicks.
We may change back in stable version.

I would vote for a single click, because I never click it accidental.

Yes, double clicking on an icon is somewhat weird.

Have an idea: When you click the clear all downloads button, maybe pop up a little message that says something like "Are you sure to clear all downloads?" or "Are you sure you want to clear out the downloads list" or some kind of message of that nature. And then maybe a "do not show again" check box somewhere to enable the one-click only style.
Also, probably have somewhere in the settings menu of cent browser, an option to switch between the two click confirmation style and the one-click style if the user wants to change preferences yet again.
I think that download button has a bug too (I'm on the stable 3.7):
sometimes the downloads counter shows the double number of what I've downloaded,
maybe it is caused by an extension (I'm running "always clear downloads 2" and "download notify")

Have you tried temporarily disabling those extensions?
nope because I consider it to be a minor issue, I'll try it some time and I'll tell you
