Your fonts seems to be sharper than mine (with "smooth edges of screen fonts").
What did you do, is it how it works for you by default? Or are you using any extensions / changed some settings?

Changes made to chrome://flags

Expansions are used Font Rendering Enhancer, Advanced Font Settings

1. Do fonts also look broken to you on some sites if you disable DirectWrite and do nothing else (no other settings and extensions)?

2. Could you show me your settings in these extensions? I'll try exactly the same.

Thanks!

Another question:

How can i check that DirectWrite flag works for me at all?
I've tried to turn it off and on, and compared how it looks in an incognito mode (no extensions active), and i see no difference.

Try to adjust ClearType
(04-12-2020, 12:14 PM)ChromiumIQ Wrote: [ -> ]Try to adjust ClearType

The only adjustment i do for clear type is to turn it off completely. I hate it, it only blurs everything.

So, my problems is this:
in older releases (up to 4.0.9.112) all i needed to do was to disable DirectWrite. And that's it, no other extensions and flags were necessary.
But now it doesn't work any more, disabling it still leaves fonts broken on many sites.

I'm attaching a quick comparison i just did with the last 3 portable versions: 4.0.9.112  vs  4.1.7.182  vs  4.2.9.152
DirectWrite is disabled for all of them, everything else is by default, with no extensions.

So please don't tell me that it's something on my system, it's clearly not.

I 'm far away from you. What 's going on, I don 't know. Look for options further yourself. I have good fonts on all versions.

If you're using cleartype, or smooth edges for fonts, or some other type of "improving" fonts already, then it could explain it.

What i'm interested in is if there are other people who don't use any of this stuff, and for whom fonts are broken with DirectWrite enabled, and are looking good with it disabled, and the same still works with the last version of cent browser.

If i need to "improve" fonts myself now, what do i need cent browser for? Without being able to disable DirectWrite anymore, i might as well just use a regular Chrome.

Assessment of fonts is subjective. The user adjusts the fonts to suit their needs. Do not want to configure, use what you have.
