No other Chrome browser does this, even those that claim to be portable (the browsers are portable but extensions have to be re-installed on every machine and bookmarks don't get copied so not really portable). This is the main reason I prefer Mozilla over Chromium for portable browsers.
Keep up the good work and please maintain support for Manifest v2 so Ublock Origin, best adblocker available continues to function.

Since version v5.2.1168.76 to v5.2.1168.83, I discovered a problem; when the browser renders images, it often appears to have a blank space (both above and below the image). Only when switching to another tab or minimizing the browser and then reopening will it render the blank part of the image. Here is the screen recording video I recorded:

And also on both of these versions, when checking in chrome://gpu, I see the value of Video Decode and Video Encode are both Hardware accelerated.
But when watching videos (like on YouTube), it will decode using the CPU instead of the GPU.

When viewing in Task Manager - Cent Browser, most tasks like "Browser", "GPU Process", and the YouTube tab all use GPU memory. But it seems that because it doesn't use a GPU, the CPU is used a lot.

I just updated to CentBrowser v5.2.1168.75 today. But I quickly discovered a few issues and suggestions as follows:

1. Issue: Always using CPU even without any tabs open:

When there are no tabs open (browser is idle), the "Browser" process still uses 1~15% CPU. I tried turning off all gestures, options in chrome://settings/performance,... But it still doesn't "idle" (not using CPU).

Previously, when I was still using v5.1.1130.129, this problem did not appear.

This problem is similar to the situation on Supermium that I reported on Github before.

Screen recording video:

2. Suggestion: Never pin the Chrome Experiments icon (chrome://flags) to the toolbar:

On v5.1.1130.129 the Chrome Experiments icon was always pinned to the toolbar, wasting space with no way to remove it. After updating to v5.2.1168.75, fortunately this icon has disappeared (perhaps a bug?) from the toolbar.

However, looking at the CentBrowser\User Data\Default\Preferences file on v5.2.1168.75, this JSON object can be seen:

Code:

...
"toolbar": {
"pinned_actions": [
"kActionShowChromeLabs"
],
"pinned_chrome_labs_migration_complete": true
},
...

Yes, kActionShowChromeLabs is the Chrome Experiments icon! Even if you delete it, when you restart the browser, it will automatically add it back later. It seems like it always tries to pin the Chrome Experiments icon to the toolbar but somehow v5.2.1168.75 "magically" ignores it.

This is great because I don't have to waste space on an icon that I never need. I hope, with this "bug", it will not (ever) be "fixed", at least not until there is an option to completely disable this icon from the toolbar like other toolbar customization options.

3. Suggestion: Allow disabling the "Image Search" feature completely:

It appears everywhere in the browser, from the right-click context menu to the address bar, wasting space and making you feel like Google is "openly tracking" your every move, which is really annoying.

I hope there will be some customization to completely disable the "Image Search" feature, or partially disable it (like removing it from the right-click context menu, removing it from the address bar, etc.).

4. Issue: The Google Hangouts is back in a new look:

If my previous article requesting to remove built-in extensions requests to remove Google Hangouts, using the --disable-component-extensions-with-background-pages flag is quite effective when successfully disabling (hiding) Google Hangouts from chrome://system/#extensions.

This flag "theoretically" still works on version v5.2.1168.75. But it seems that Google doesn't like this! They have "created" Utility: Video Capture to replace the Google Hangouts built-in extension.

As I learned on Reddit, Brave browser forum and practical experience, Utility: Video Capture will be automatically activated when opening Gmail on the new interface, or more precisely on the Gmail new interface, it will silently load and open Google Hangouts in the background even if you don't use it, and Utility: Video Capture will be activated.

Even if you close Gmail, this process will not close.

If you kill this process via the task manager, it will automatically reopen shortly after (similar to Utility: Network Service and Utility: Storage Services).

According to comments on Reddit, disabling Google Chat (Google Hangouts) in Gmail should fix this issue, but as I tested it, it no longer works.

Quote:
Those are the issues and suggestions after about 2 hours of using version v5.2.1168.75. I hope it will be useful, the issues will be fixed soon, the suggestions will be added in the next version.

Hi,
How to disable pip for Youtube?
I followed these steps in AI but didn't fix it

To disable YouTube Picture-in-Picture (PiP) in Cent Browser, follow these steps:
Method 1: Disable PiP from YouTube

Right-click twice on the video:

This opens the context menu where "Picture-in-Picture" appears.

If PiP is enabled, close the small PiP window by clicking the "X" or stopping it.

Disable the PiP option:

Some videos automatically enable PiP. Ensure it's not enabled manually from the browser.

Method 2: Disable PiP via Chrome/Browser Flags
Cent Browser is Chromium-based, so you can adjust its behavior via Chrome Flags:

Open Cent Browser and type

Code:

chrome://flags

into the address bar.

Search for

Code:

Picture-in-Picture

or

Code:

pip

.

Disable these flags (if available):

Code:

Enable Picture-in-Picture

Code:

Enable the Picture-in-Picture Web API

Restart the browser to apply the changes.

Method 3: Use an Extension to Block PiP
You can use browser extensions to control or disable PiP functionality:

Search for an extension in the Chrome Web Store, such as "Disable Picture-in-Picture."

Install and configure the extension to block PiP.

Method 4: Block PiP Through Settings (If Available)
Cent Browser may have specific settings to manage video playback:

Go to the browser settings.

Navigate to

Code:

Privacy and Security

or

Code:

Site Settings

.

Look for

Code:

Media autoplay

or

Code:

Picture-in-Picture

settings and turn them off.
I found out that you can insert this in the Cent browser:
chrome://settings/cbOtherOptions
But that isn't the best method either. You also can't insert too many commands.
With the Brave browser, which I often use, you can't do this at all on this page. There is another method of inserting these commands via a link. But this method isn't ideal either. There isn't enough space for too many commands and you often have to recreate the link after formatting the PC.

An ideal method would be a kind of start file. I know this from the catsxp browser. it has a file in the main directory called "StartupParm.txt" where you can enter as many of these chrome start parameters as you want.
brave browser
and
catsxp browser
