i disabled this, still opened tabs are being put to sleep.

Please disable "Purge Memory" for now, it can also make tabs sleep.

I suggest not changing anything in chrome://flags unless you have encountered an issue in the browser.
So just click "Reset all" in chrome://flags to restore all options.
Some users may want to change "chrome://flags/#disable-direct-write" to "Disabled" to disable DirectWrite rendering, and they can get clearer fonts when use with MacType.
