Do you have a large number of search engines saved in your browser? The "Web Data" file is where the search engine is stored. If you use a custom search engine, after deleting this file you will have to set up the search engine again.
Have you tried this: close the browser, backup and then delete the "Web Data" and "Web Data-journal" files from the "User Data\Default" folder (Visit chrome://version in your browser and look at "Profile Path" to find the user data directory), restart the browser to let it generate new files automatically, and then check if the address bar is still slow to respond when you type?
I remember I created a topic asking to move the search engine storage to another file like "Preferences" / "Secure Preferences" a while ago, but it has not made any progress.
Tell me I'm your national anthem
