Peacock TV Won't Play
#1
Not sure if a Cent issue, but I can't get Peacock TV stream to work on Cent. Have the latest (Version: 4.2.10.171, Chromium: 80.0.3987.163). All "normal" site settings but also tried with allowing most settings I'd block normally. Also turned off adblocking, etc. I went to html5test and got a 476/555 score, so it *should* work, I think.

I tested on Edge (latest 84.xxx) and it works fine not changing any settings.

Unfortunately Peacock only works in the USA (altho it can work elsewhere using a VPN, I hear), fyi.

Anyone else have this experience or know why it doesn't work (a missed setting on my part, etc)? Anyone using Cent in the USA that can verify if it works or not?

thanks...

Have you tried running the browser in safe mode(a command in Alt+F menu)?
And you may check update for "Widevine Content Decryption Module" in chrome://components/.

Hi, I did try the widevine update and checked again and noted "up to date" but still, Peacock won't play.

Just tried safemode and still no go. I received a slightly different error "Something went wrong. Sorry, this content is currently unavailable. (OVP_00009)"

But it is fine on edge browser, so the content is available!

I'll keep testing, hope someone can lock in on the issue. There is virtually no info on the error codes/prompts that get displayed....

My original error: Something went wrong. "Sorry, there was a playback error. Please try again. (2003)"

The only difference I've observed in "components" of Cent vs, Edge (there are a few other differences but nothing that would seem to affect play to me.....Cent has no flash player component.....Edge does. Tried downloading flash for chrome from adobe, it installed but nothing for it still shows in components. I recall there was some flash "thing" with Cent a few years ago...should there be a flash component?

I found a post from april where you described how to get pepflashplayer.dll and the json file. I tried but it still not showing as a component.

I use a portable version so the ....user data is not under "users" subdir, but under the cent\user data folder ("cent" is the directory I place the portable in.). Is there a way to confirm where needed files should go, which 2 I need (the pepflashplayer.dll and json files were under windows\wow64\macromenia, etc.).

I'm thinking that might be the solution but can't get it showing under components, yet.

This is weird. I check: chrome://version/ and there, it notes "Flash 32.0.0.414 C:\Program Files\Internet\Cent\User Data\PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll"

so it sees it, but not in components.

But, Peacock still doesn't work..... : (

Maybe related to Chromium version.
Does it work normally in IE and Firefox?

Tried IE but I haven't used/updated it in a long time, so get a "browser not supported, try using edge, chrome, etc..." That type of message.

it works on edge (Version 84.0.522.63 (Official build) (64-bit)) so there is a version difference if edge version is based on chrome version.

I don't use Firefox...only Cent.

For Cent/chrome, Peacock says minimum chrome version is 76.xxxx.

thanks, but not the same, also not noted which browser that poster is using...i am using a laptop/dock station with monitor but I can run each browser (Cent and edge) side by side exactly the same time...edge works, cent won't. It is odd...but I think there must be a setting or something in cent, remember, even in safe mode, still not working. Tried a new install from scratch, same...won't work. Oh well, it's not the end of the world...

but curious minds like to know why!

Have you tested Peacock TV in Cent on another computer?

yes, tried on 3 different laptops...also made a usb disk from scratch with no extensions or setting changes install and tried from there, it also failed. No worries....
