Suddenly Cent no longer reacts on anything fom menu
#1
I have been using Cent without any problems for several years now, but since yesterday the main profile of my browser has stopped reacting on anything, whenever I do something from the "menu" like trying to scroll through bookmarks or trying to open the bookmarks manager to search for a particular bookmark as scroling no longer works.

The browser freezes and has to be force closed.

Changing the bookmark display from "columns" to the one long dropdown (which is really terrible for a person with a plethora of bookmarks like me) doesn't change anything.

I use the current version of Cent on Windows 11 Professional, the only changes made are the updates Windows does often in the background, according to the update list the last stuff Windows put on there was on 16th.

Since then I immediately also had this " we need to to verify you are a real person" whenever I want to search something with Google. This is also strange. But I can live with that, only I would like to be able to use my bookmarks again. What could be the problem?

Edit: the problem seems not to be caused by an extension, as I have created another virgin profile with no extensions and no changes in the originals settzinge, imported the booknarks there, and the same, as soon as I start scrolling, the browser freezes.

It sounds like a bookmark with abnormal content caused the UI process to freeze. You can try disabling "graphics acceleration" in chrome://settings/system to rule out the possibility that hardware conflicts are causing the browser to hang. Does importing the same bookmark into other Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome or Edge reproduce the same issue?

Additionally, you mentioned that Google Search always shows human-machine verification. If you add --cb-disable-google-probing in chrome://settings/cbOtherOptions and restart the browser, can Google Search’s behavior return to normal? You might also check if there are any unexpected and strange proxy servers set up in the browser and system proxy settings.

Thank you. Graphics acceleration was already disabled. (I forgot to mentaion that I had also emptied the browser history, which had no effect on the described problem). And, no, I created a new profile in Edge, imported the bookmarks there, and so far no problems (other than that I have no columns display there).

About the Google thing I have to keep an eye on that. Often resetting the IP address helps, but I am currently at my parents' and they don't want me to take the router from power, so I have to wait until next week, when I am in my apartment again.

The bookmark should be fine. Have you tried the cleanup option in Help → Wipe browsing data? If that doesn’t work, then you might have to uninstall and reinstall the browser (note: do not clear your user data during this process).
