I reiterate that it feels like they're hiding something nasty in the coding.

Nasty? we just don't know, but they flatly refuse to let anyone else see the code. Whether it's sloppy coding, hacky methods to get things working, phoning home things it shouldn't, or something else, who knows...

I also have my reservations about Catsxp as it's quite clearly based on Brave source code but doesn't make any source code available, which I believe it should according to Brave's open source terms.

Catsxp not supported sync profile with Google account

Maxthon - cant show all tabs on a tabbar, i get a drop down menu i cant disable. cant tell which tab is active, sometimes the tab is one in the dropdown menu, which is so dumb. i have buttons on the inteface i cant delete.
Vvivaldi - so dumb cant open a bookmark in a blank tab, has to create a new tab. cant install a theme from Chrome Store. everything is so compacted it gives me anxiety.
Brave i cant take seriosly, way too many features nobody uses.
none of them have disable directwrite.
none of them have round corners.
none of them have command lines.
